| CVE-2026-31521 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-15 | 5.5 Medium |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: module: Fix kernel panic when a symbol st_shndx is out of bounds The module loader doesn't check for bounds of the ELF section index in simplify_symbols(): for (i = 1; i < symsec->sh_size / sizeof(Elf_Sym); i++) { const char *name = info->strtab + sym[i].st_name; switch (sym[i].st_shndx) { case SHN_COMMON: [...] default: /* Divert to percpu allocation if a percpu var. */ if (sym[i].st_shndx == info->index.pcpu) secbase = (unsigned long)mod_percpu(mod); else /** HERE --> **/ secbase = info->sechdrs[sym[i].st_shndx].sh_addr; sym[i].st_value += secbase; break; } } A symbol with an out-of-bounds st_shndx value, for example 0xffff (known as SHN_XINDEX or SHN_HIRESERVE), may cause a kernel panic: BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ... RIP: 0010:simplify_symbols+0x2b2/0x480 ... Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception This can happen when module ELF is legitimately using SHN_XINDEX or when it is corrupted. Add a bounds check in simplify_symbols() to validate that st_shndx is within the valid range before using it. This issue was discovered due to a bug in llvm-objcopy, see relevant discussion for details [1]. [1] https://lore.kernel.org/linux-modules/20251224005752.201911-1-ihor.solodrai@linux.dev/ | ||||
| CVE-2026-31495 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-15 | 5.5 Medium |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ctnetlink: use netlink policy range checks Replace manual range and mask validations with netlink policy annotations in ctnetlink code paths, so that the netlink core rejects invalid values early and can generate extack errors. - CTA_PROTOINFO_TCP_STATE: reject values > TCP_CONNTRACK_SYN_SENT2 at policy level, removing the manual >= TCP_CONNTRACK_MAX check. - CTA_PROTOINFO_TCP_WSCALE_ORIGINAL/REPLY: reject values > TCP_MAX_WSCALE (14). The normal TCP option parsing path already clamps to this value, but the ctnetlink path accepted 0-255, causing undefined behavior when used as a u32 shift count. - CTA_FILTER_ORIG_FLAGS/REPLY_FLAGS: use NLA_POLICY_MASK with CTA_FILTER_F_ALL, removing the manual mask checks. - CTA_EXPECT_FLAGS: use NLA_POLICY_MASK with NF_CT_EXPECT_MASK, adding a new mask define grouping all valid expect flags. Extracted from a broader nf-next patch by Florian Westphal, scoped to ctnetlink for the fixes tree. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Do not skip unrelated mode changes in DSC validation Starting with commit 17ce8a6907f7 ("drm/amd/display: Add dsc pre-validation in atomic check"), amdgpu resets the CRTC state mode_changed flag to false when recomputing the DSC configuration results in no timing change for a particular stream. However, this is incorrect in scenarios where a change in MST/DSC configuration happens in the same KMS commit as another (unrelated) mode change. For example, the integrated panel of a laptop may be configured differently (e.g., HDR enabled/disabled) depending on whether external screens are attached. In this case, plugging in external DP-MST screens may result in the mode_changed flag being dropped incorrectly for the integrated panel if its DSC configuration did not change during precomputation in pre_validate_dsc(). At this point, however, dm_update_crtc_state() has already created new streams for CRTCs with DSC-independent mode changes. In turn, amdgpu_dm_commit_streams() will never release the old stream, resulting in a memory leak. amdgpu_dm_atomic_commit_tail() will never acquire a reference to the new stream either, which manifests as a use-after-free when the stream gets disabled later on: BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in dc_stream_release+0x25/0x90 [amdgpu] Write of size 4 at addr ffff88813d836524 by task kworker/9:9/29977 Workqueue: events drm_mode_rmfb_work_fn Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x6e/0xa0 print_address_description.constprop.0+0x88/0x320 ? dc_stream_release+0x25/0x90 [amdgpu] print_report+0xfc/0x1ff ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 ? __virt_addr_valid+0x225/0x4e0 ? dc_stream_release+0x25/0x90 [amdgpu] kasan_report+0xe1/0x180 ? dc_stream_release+0x25/0x90 [amdgpu] kasan_check_range+0x125/0x200 dc_stream_release+0x25/0x90 [amdgpu] dc_state_destruct+0x14d/0x5c0 [amdgpu] dc_state_release.part.0+0x4e/0x130 [amdgpu] dm_atomic_destroy_state+0x3f/0x70 [amdgpu] drm_atomic_state_default_clear+0x8ee/0xf30 ? drm_mode_object_put.part.0+0xb1/0x130 __drm_atomic_state_free+0x15c/0x2d0 atomic_remove_fb+0x67e/0x980 Since there is no reliable way of figuring out whether a CRTC has unrelated mode changes pending at the time of DSC validation, remember the value of the mode_changed flag from before the point where a CRTC was marked as potentially affected by a change in DSC configuration. | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: replace BUG_ON with proper error handling in ext4_read_inline_folio Replace BUG_ON() with proper error handling when inline data size exceeds PAGE_SIZE. This prevents kernel panic and allows the system to continue running while properly reporting the filesystem corruption. The error is logged via ext4_error_inode(), the buffer head is released to prevent memory leak, and -EFSCORRUPTED is returned to indicate filesystem corruption. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: validate p_idx bounds in ext4_ext_correct_indexes ext4_ext_correct_indexes() walks up the extent tree correcting index entries when the first extent in a leaf is modified. Before accessing path[k].p_idx->ei_block, there is no validation that p_idx falls within the valid range of index entries for that level. If the on-disk extent header contains a corrupted or crafted eh_entries value, p_idx can point past the end of the allocated buffer, causing a slab-out-of-bounds read. Fix this by validating path[k].p_idx against EXT_LAST_INDEX() at both access sites: before the while loop and inside it. Return -EFSCORRUPTED if the index pointer is out of range, consistent with how other bounds violations are handled in the ext4 extent tree code. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: x_tables: restrict xt_check_match/xt_check_target extensions for NFPROTO_ARP Weiming Shi says: xt_match and xt_target structs registered with NFPROTO_UNSPEC can be loaded by any protocol family through nft_compat. When such a match/target sets .hooks to restrict which hooks it may run on, the bitmask uses NF_INET_* constants. This is only correct for families whose hook layout matches NF_INET_*: IPv4, IPv6, INET, and bridge all share the same five hooks (PRE_ROUTING ... POST_ROUTING). ARP only has three hooks (IN=0, OUT=1, FORWARD=2) with different semantics. Because NF_ARP_OUT == 1 == NF_INET_LOCAL_IN, the .hooks validation silently passes for the wrong reasons, allowing matches to run on ARP chains where the hook assumptions (e.g. state->in being set on input hooks) do not hold. This leads to NULL pointer dereferences; xt_devgroup is one concrete example: Oops: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0xdffffc0000000044: 0000 [#1] SMP KASAN NOPTI KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000220-0x0000000000000227] RIP: 0010:devgroup_mt+0xff/0x350 Call Trace: <TASK> nft_match_eval (net/netfilter/nft_compat.c:407) nft_do_chain (net/netfilter/nf_tables_core.c:285) nft_do_chain_arp (net/netfilter/nft_chain_filter.c:61) nf_hook_slow (net/netfilter/core.c:623) arp_xmit (net/ipv4/arp.c:666) </TASK> Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt Fix it by restricting arptables to NFPROTO_ARP extensions only. These attributes are used by the kernel without any validation. Extend the netlink policies accordingly. [..] and: ... with exp->dir = 100, the access at ct->master->tuplehash[100] reads 5600 bytes past the start of a 320-byte nf_conn object, causing a slab-out-of-bounds read confirmed by UBSAN. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_conntrack_h323: fix OOB read in decode_int() CONS case In decode_int(), the CONS case calls get_bits(bs, 2) to read a length value, then calls get_uint(bs, len) without checking that len bytes remain in the buffer. The existing boundary check only validates the 2 bits for get_bits(), not the subsequent 1-4 bytes that get_uint() reads. This allows a malformed H.323/RAS packet to cause a 1-4 byte slab-out-of-bounds read. Add a boundary check for len bytes after get_bits() and before get_uint(). | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_conntrack_h323: check for zero length in DecodeQ931() In DecodeQ931(), the UserUserIE code path reads a 16-bit length from the packet, then decrements it by 1 to skip the protocol discriminator byte before passing it to DecodeH323_UserInformation(). If the encoded length is 0, the decrement wraps to -1, which is then passed as a large value to the decoder, leading to an out-of-bounds read. Add a check to ensure len is positive after the decrement. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfnetlink_osf: validate individual option lengths in fingerprints nfnl_osf_add_callback() validates opt_num bounds and string NUL-termination but does not check individual option length fields. A zero-length option causes nf_osf_match_one() to enter the option matching loop even when foptsize sums to zero, which matches packets with no TCP options where ctx->optp is NULL: Oops: general protection fault KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000000-0x0000000000000007] RIP: 0010:nf_osf_match_one (net/netfilter/nfnetlink_osf.c:98) Call Trace: nf_osf_match (net/netfilter/nfnetlink_osf.c:227) xt_osf_match_packet (net/netfilter/xt_osf.c:32) ipt_do_table (net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.c:293) nf_hook_slow (net/netfilter/core.c:623) ip_local_deliver (net/ipv4/ip_input.c:262) ip_rcv (net/ipv4/ip_input.c:573) Additionally, an MSS option (kind=2) with length < 4 causes out-of-bounds reads when nf_osf_match_one() unconditionally accesses optp[2] and optp[3] for MSS value extraction. While RFC 9293 section 3.2 specifies that the MSS option is always exactly 4 bytes (Kind=2, Length=4), the check uses "< 4" rather than "!= 4" because lengths greater than 4 do not cause memory safety issues -- the buffer is guaranteed to be at least foptsize bytes by the ctx->optsize == foptsize check. Reject fingerprints where any option has zero length, or where an MSS option has length less than 4, at add time rather than trusting these values in the packet matching hot path. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: L2CAP: Fix accepting multiple L2CAP_ECRED_CONN_REQ Currently the code attempts to accept requests regardless of the command identifier which may cause multiple requests to be marked as pending (FLAG_DEFER_SETUP) which can cause more than L2CAP_ECRED_MAX_CID(5) to be allocated in l2cap_ecred_rsp_defer causing an overflow. The spec is quite clear that the same identifier shall not be used on subsequent requests: 'Within each signaling channel a different Identifier shall be used for each successive request or indication.' https://www.bluetooth.com/wp-content/uploads/Files/Specification/HTML/Core-62/out/en/host/logical-link-control-and-adaptation-protocol-specification.html#UUID-32a25a06-4aa4-c6c7-77c5-dcfe3682355d So this attempts to check if there are any channels pending with the same identifier and rejects if any are found. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Squashfs: check metadata block offset is within range Syzkaller reports a "general protection fault in squashfs_copy_data" This is ultimately caused by a corrupted index look-up table, which produces a negative metadata block offset. This is subsequently passed to squashfs_copy_data (via squashfs_read_metadata) where the negative offset causes an out of bounds access. The fix is to check that the offset is within range in squashfs_read_metadata. This will trap this and other cases. | ||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: usb-audio: Use correct version for UAC3 header validation The entry of the validators table for UAC3 AC header descriptor is defined with the wrong protocol version UAC_VERSION_2, while it should have been UAC_VERSION_3. This results in the validator never matching for actual UAC3 devices (protocol == UAC_VERSION_3), causing their header descriptors to bypass validation entirely. A malicious USB device presenting a truncated UAC3 header could exploit this to cause out-of-bounds reads when the driver later accesses unvalidated descriptor fields. The bug was introduced in the same commit as the recently fixed UAC3 feature unit sub-type typo, and appears to be from the same copy-paste error when the UAC3 section was created from the UAC2 section. | ||||

| CVE-2026-23310 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2026-10-15 | 5.5 Medium |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf/bonding: reject vlan+srcmac xmit_hash_policy change when XDP is loaded bond_option_mode_set() already rejects mode changes that would make a loaded XDP program incompatible via bond_xdp_check(). However, bond_option_xmit_hash_policy_set() has no such guard. For 802.3ad and balance-xor modes, bond_xdp_check() returns false when xmit_hash_policy is vlan+srcmac, because the 802.1q payload is usually absent due to hardware offload. This means a user can: 1. Attach a native XDP program to a bond in 802.3ad/balance-xor mode with a compatible xmit_hash_policy (e.g. layer2+3). 2. Change xmit_hash_policy to vlan+srcmac while XDP remains loaded. This leaves bond->xdp_prog set but bond_xdp_check() now returning false for the same device. When the bond is later destroyed, dev_xdp_uninstall() calls bond_xdp_set(dev, NULL, NULL) to remove the program, which hits the bond_xdp_check() guard and returns -EOPNOTSUPP, triggering: WARN_ON(dev_xdp_install(dev, mode, bpf_op, NULL, 0, NULL)) Fix this by rejecting xmit_hash_policy changes to vlan+srcmac when an XDP program is loaded on a bond in 802.3ad or balance-xor mode. commit 39a0876d595b ("net, bonding: Disallow vlan+srcmac with XDP") introduced bond_xdp_check() which returns false for 802.3ad/balance-xor modes when xmit_hash_policy is vlan+srcmac. The check was wired into bond_xdp_set() to reject XDP attachment with an incompatible policy, but the symmetric path -- preventing xmit_hash_policy from being changed to an incompatible value after XDP is already loaded -- was left unguarded in bond_option_xmit_hash_policy_set(). Note: commit 094ee6017ea0 ("bonding: check xdp prog when set bond mode") later added a similar guard to bond_option_mode_set(), but bond_option_xmit_hash_policy_set() remained unprotected. | ||||
