CVSS v3.1 |
CWE-345: Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity vulnerability exists that could allow modified firmware to be uploaded when an authorized admin user begins a firmware update procedure which could result in control over the device.
A flaw was found in Submariner. This vulnerability allows a malicious cluster (spoke) to redirect network traffic from other connected clusters (peer clusters) by publishing a specially crafted network endpoint. The system fails to properly validate the network subnets provided by the malicious cluster, enabling it to declare arbitrary network ranges. Consequently, all network traffic intended for these arbitrary ranges from peer clusters will be rerouted through the attacker's tunnel, potentially leading to unauthorized information disclosure or network disruption.
A flaw has been found in Insta InstaKNXServiceApp 1.2.3.1469. Affected by this issue is the function CreateWebClientAndDownloadFileList of the component Firmware Update Handler. Executing a manipulation can lead to insufficient verification of data authenticity. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. Attacks of this nature are highly complex. The exploitation is known to be difficult. There are still doubts about whether this vulnerability truly exists. The vendor explains: "[T]he entry suggests that the device does not verify the authenticity of the update. This is incorrect. The device performs an authenticity check after the complete update has been transferred. If this check fails, the update is not installed and the previously installed firmware continues to run".
An authenticated administrator could initiate an administrative import using a file whose contents were not fully verified, because the import validated only the file's header rather than the complete file. This could allow unverified or forged content to be accepted and processed, affecting the integrity of the imported data.
Code for IBMi is a Visual Studio Code extension for maintaining and compiling ILE languages on the IBMi platform. Prior to 3.0.1, IBMi components implementing IBMiComponent were accepted after checking that a procedure existed without reliably verifying component integrity. Components installed with broad public permissions allow another local account to alter a program such as GETMBRINFO. A later connection can execute the altered program under the connecting account because the LONG_COMMENT marker alone does not establish integrity. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.1.
A flaw has been found in D-Link DCS-930L B1.08B4. This impacts the function mpfd_decode of the file bootloader_region.bin of the component Emergency HTTP Recovery Server. Executing a manipulation of the argument firmware can lead to improper verification of cryptographic signature. The attack may be performed from remote. The exploit has been published and may be used.
Zebra before 6.4.0 contains an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability that allows unauthenticated peers to force full proof verification by serving forged block bodies with valid header hashes. Attackers can flip authorizing-only bytes such as a coinbase scriptSig, wasting Sapling, Orchard, and Ironwood proof verification without penalty and stalling sync for 67 seconds.
A flaw was found in the lighthouse component of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes. This vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of advertised IP addresses within EndpointSlice objects. A compromised spoke cluster can exploit this by creating EndpointSlices with attacker-controlled IP addresses, causing other clusters' lighthouse DNS to redirect legitimate service traffic to malicious endpoints. This enables a remote attacker to conduct transparent Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attacks on cross-cluster service communications, potentially leading to unauthorized information disclosure and data manipulation.
Contrast 1.8.0 before 1.24.1 contains an improper verification vulnerability in Coordinator peer recovery that fails to confirm the serving peer uses the same manifest generation. Attackers with write access to manifest history can replay a superseded history head so withdrawn workloads obtain trusted mesh certificates, or with the secret seed disclose the Mesh CA key.
Unauthenticated Bypass Vulnerability in Pay With MetaMask For WooCommerce – Cryptocurrency Payment Gateway <= 1.7.2 versions.
A vulnerability was determined in InstantSoft icms2 up to 2.18.2. The affected element is the function validatePaypalOrder of the file system/controllers/billing/actions/paypal.php of the component Billing Module. Executing a manipulation of the argument bid/sig can lead to insufficient verification of data authenticity. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
IBM DataPower Gateway 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 could allow an authenticated user to forge signature requests due to improper verification of data authenticity.
Vikunja is an open-source self-hosted task management platform. In versions 1.0.0 through 2.3.0, when an administrator enables the per-provider `emailfallback` option on an OpenID Connect provider, Vikunja links an SSO login to a pre-existing local (username+password) account using only the `email` claim from the IdP. The fallback never checks an `email_verified` (or Microsoft `xms_edov`) signal and never requires the matched account's password. An attacker who can obtain a token from the configured issuer carrying a victim's email logs in as that victim with a full session, with no consent or interaction from the victim. Version 2.4.0 fixes the issue.
Jexactyl is a customisable game management panel and billing system. Prior to 4.0.5, the POST /api/client/billing/stripe/process endpoint accepts a client-supplied Stripe Checkout Session when payment_status is paid but does not compare amount_total or currency with the referenced order and configured billing currency. On an instance where the billing module is enabled and a Stripe secret key is configured, an authenticated client can therefore complete a lower-value or mismatched-currency payment and cause the order to be processed, provisioning, renewing, upgrading, or unsuspending the purchased server for less than the required price. This issue is fixed in version 4.0.5.
The Nexi XPay Build WordPress plugin through 7.6.2 does not correctly validate the security token on its payment notification route, accepting the request when the target order has no stored token, which allows unauthenticated attackers to mark arbitrary orders as paid, or to mark genuinely paid orders as failed.
The Airwallex Online Payments Gateway WordPress plugin before 1.36.0 does not verify that an incoming payment notification genuinely comes from the payment provider when no webhook secret has been configured, allowing unauthenticated attackers to forge one and mark orders as paid without paying.
| Insufficient verification of data authenticity (CWE-345) in the external OIDC login callback in Cloud Foundry UAA v4.5.0 to v79.6.0 (inclusive) allows an authenticated UAA user to bypass the OAuth authorization-code exchange and establish an authenticated external-OIDC browser session, via submitting a UAA access token or a cross-client ID token as the callback’s id_token parameter.
The issue only manifests when a UAA zone is configured with an OIDC identity provider whose issuer exactly matches that zone’s own /oauth/token endpoint (a “self-UAA” OIDC configuration). In this configuration, the callback takes a supplied id_token directly instead of requiring the authorization code exchange, and does not verify that the token was actually issued as an ID token for the specific self-OIDC relying-party client. An attacker holding any valid UAA JWT for themselves — including a plain access token with only uaa.user scope, or a valid ID token issued to an unrelated client such as cf — can present it as the callback’s id_token and be authenticated into a mapped local (“shadow”) account. Because the resulting session is not verified against the originating token’s true audience or user_id, its effective privilege depends entirely on the shadow account’s group memberships, which can include administrative scopes such as clients.write.
Exploitation requires a valid UAA user JWT, a valid browser login state for the target zone, and the presence of a self-referential OIDC provider configuration — this is not a pre-authentication vulnerability, and does not by itself grant privileges beyond those already held by the mapped shadow account. |
The AsyncHttpClient (AHC) library allows Java applications to easily execute HTTP requests and asynchronously process HTTP responses. Prior to 3.0.12 and 2.16.1, WebSocketHandler.upgrade aborts a handshake whose Sec-WebSocket-Accept value is missing or invalid but continues into pipeline installation and onOpen delivery. Frames coalesced with the invalid 101 response can be decoded and delivered from a peer that did not prove the handshake, although the request future fails and the channel closes. This issue is fixed in versions 3.0.12 and 2.16.1.
Postfix through 3.8.5 allows SMTP smuggling unless configured with smtpd_data_restrictions=reject_unauth_pipelining and smtpd_discard_ehlo_keywords=chunking (or certain other options that exist in recent versions). Remote attackers can use a published exploitation technique to inject e-mail messages with a spoofed MAIL FROM address, allowing bypass of an SPF protection mechanism. This occurs because Postfix supports <LF>.<CR><LF> but some other popular e-mail servers do not. To prevent attack variants (by always disallowing <LF> without <CR>), a different solution is required, such as the smtpd_forbid_bare_newline=yes option with a Postfix minimum version of 3.5.23, 3.6.13, 3.7.9, 3.8.4, or 3.9.
A flaw was found in Samba’s certificate auto-enrollment Group Policy handling. When certificate auto-enrollment is enabled, Samba may retrieve a CA certificate over an unencrypted HTTP connection and install it into the local trust store without proper verification. An attacker with the ability to intercept or redirect network traffic could exploit this behavior to supply a malicious certificate authority certificate, potentially allowing interception or spoofing of trusted communications.
